This lion head was poly carved out of expanded polystyrene and fixed with hard expanding foam. 
The mane was also sprayed on using hard expanding foam and carved into shape. 
It was then covered in scrim and PVA and then covered in all-purpose filler mixed with PVA and sanded. 
It was then painted to make it look like aged copper.
